About
The National Christian Youth Convention is a week long youth event held by the Uniting Church in Australia.
Every two years, hundreds of youth between 16 and 25 and their leaders gather to experience Christian community.
NCYC has a wonderful history of changing lives and has been held every two years for more than 50 years!
NCYC seeks to give the delegates the chance to:
- explore meaningful ways of expressing faith in daily living
- discover Christian faith for the first time
- experience of being part of a community of Christians
- learn to share faith through active service and witness.
Some of the key features of NCYC are:
- It is a residential conference – building community among the delegates who attend through community gatherings and daily small group meetings.
- It’s educational – featuring Bible teaching and a range of electives and workshops.
- Celebratory – featuring contemporary worship with music, drama, multimedia presentations and youth oriented liturgy.
- Experiential – not just hearing about God, but being in a community that reflects authentic discipleship.
THE THEME
The theme focuses on the opportunity for young adults to turn up their faith, to engage with Jesus at a deeper level and to share their faith more passionately with others.
THE VISION
NCYC provides an opportunity for young people and their congregations to be enthused, rejuvenated and inspired to live and adopt faithful lives of discipleship.
The support of their faith communities before Convention and after they return home can help grow a deeper commitment to discipleship and belonging in the NCYC delegates and, as a result, grow the church both today and into the future.
GOAL
To inspire, challenge and excite young people in their relationship with Christ through a weeklong residential Christian convention.
AIMS

- To give young people an opportunity to explore ideas of faith and God.
- To provide a safe environment in which young people can be challenged, and their perceptions about their faith reshaped.
- To provide an opportunity for diverse participatory experiences of faith expression and worship.
- To provide young people with different, community-based experiences of mission.
- To give young people a chance to hear inspiring world-class speakers they would not be able to access locally.
- To assist in growing the whole church’s ministry and mission.
- To build leadership and networks amongst young people of all backgrounds.
- To create a convention that will substantially contribute to building our faith community across the synod for the next decade.
